Online and On-Demand:
For Lesson 2, your child needs various small found nature or garden type items. For instance:
Rocks
Feathers
Leaves
Berries
Flowers
Sticks
Mushrooms
Fruits or veggies
Head's Up for Lessons 4-7
We'll be looking at the artwork of N.C. Wyeth during October as well as Howard Pyle and other artists from the Brandywine school of art.
Field trip possibilities:
The Brandywine Museum is located in Chadds Ford, PA. This was also a branch of the Brandywine school of artists and where NC Wyeth lived. You can get a tour of his art studio.
The Rockwell Museum in Corning, NY has at least one N.C. Wyeth painting. Wherever you live, see if you can find any originals to visit. Your kids need to see all the thick brush strokes and texture in person... Mmmmm.
Library Book Recommendations:
There are many books on NC Wyeth that show a compliation of his work and some of the other Brandywine artists.
My favorite illustrations from Wyeth are from the following books -though you can find many of these illlustrations in books on his art in general:

Kidnapped
The Last of the Mohicans
Robinson Crusoe
Rip Van Winkle
The Boy's King Arthur
The Black Arrow
Legends of Charlemagne
**Just a word of caution. I will be careful what illustrations I show your kids, however, if you get a book for them, know these stories contain battles and fights that are illustrated etc. and some have images of Indians clothed as they would have been at that time. So as always, preview the art before letting your kids see.

Feel free to post pictures of your kids with their boxes and your kids' artwork. I'll post student work and classroom images from my in-person classes and anything I find that I think your kids will enjoy.
In-Person Location
343 Day Street, Horseheads, NY 14845
(the only two-story house on Day street).
Students may come into my house 5 minutes before class starts to get settled and chat. They can come right in the door without knocking and at the end of class I will send them out when they see your vehicle.
FYI, we do have a dog, Zoe, who will give sniffs and licks and usually sleeps during class. (Yorkie/Schnauzer breed)

I forgot to mention...
In your supplies for this class there was some fabric. I forgot to let the kids know during class that the fabric was for putting clothes on the characters if they wanted.
