What are we covering this year?
Illustrators and Illustration
- We'll cover illustration ranging from children's books like James Gurney's Dinotopia to Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit.
- I'll discuss how to faithfully illustrate the text: understanding characters, setting, time, culture, and background.
- We'll read the stories so students can more accurately portray the events they're illustrating.
- We'll explore styles from the flat color styles to the loose realism of N.C. Wyeth, and try out Disney's background art techniques.
- In December we'll look at different illustrated versions of Dickens' A Christmas Carol and students will create their own.
- As we study each artist, we'll focus on key concepts like composition, texture, eye flow, perspective, creating maquettes, using models, designing vehicles and gadgets, and inventing a brand-new culture.
- Throughout the year students will also draw from life, with special attention to drawing people.
Kids' Art Tour runs for 32 Classes during the school year (September - June)
Summer classes will include self-paced lessons with a fun project. (August - July).

To register your child using your Step Up funds:
- Search for "Kids Art Tour" in the SUFS Marketplace and reserve funds for your chosen class.
- Contact Becky to alert her by emailing becky@kidsarttour.com
- When Becky responds that you're all set, register your child(ren) here on the Kids' Art Tour website - you will go through with the purchase. Becky will have added your email in the system to trigger your purchase to be free. You should see $0 as your cost before completing the purchase.
(This puts you in the KAT system for automatic emails and shipping label creation etc..)

Class will be a mix of art history and art appreciation coupled with art creation. We will enjoy looking at the new material and then students will have time to create based on what they’ve learned.
Yes! Students attending in person only need to show up. Students taking live online or on-demand classes will receive art supplies with free shipping.
The only difference is if your child is with me live or watching a recorded video.

For now, we will continue using Google Classroom as we did last year. I will post the zoom link, needed supplies from your child's box, and any other important info there.

Every class and age group will receive the same art history lesson and concept taylored of course to their age group.
Art projects will vary between being the same across all ages and different at times if the younger students need an easier project.

I can be flexible on age groups as long as the situation is comfortable for all students. For instance, I may not put an 8 year old in with older teens, but if your older child is able to take the class with younger children, that is fine with me.

During the school year, we may have anywhere between 2 to 5 classes in a month. In an effort to keep things simple and steady for everyone, I calculated the total cost of classes and spread it out over 10 months (September to June). With the two summer months dropping to the on-demand pricing.
For instance, in-person classes are $40 per class and we will have 32 classes d. 40 x 32= $1,280. I take that total and divide it by 10 so that every month is the same cost = $128.
At the end of each 16 week semester, it will all even out and all classes your student has attended will be paid for.

Summer classes provide art activities for your child in a format that works with your changing summer schedule. For the months of July and August, your child will have access to video lessons and will receive shipped art supplies that will help them work through a summer project keeping them busy and active during the summer months.
There's no set schedule so your child can enjoy the content at their own pace.
Since summer classes are in the on-demand format, all membership level pricing will drop to the on-demand $75/month cost for those two months.

No problem! Simply log into your account on the website and "Pause" your subscription before the 15th of June so you will not be charged and sent the lessons.

I have good news! Live Online classes will be recorded and available to all members by the following Monday so all students can enjoy the lessons at their convenience. Refunds are not given for missed classes.
For in-person students, depending on the art project, I can send some art supplies home if I'm given early notice.
If I need to cancel a class due to my illness, etc. or inclement weather for in-person classes, I will reschedule the class at everyone's convenience.
