Exploring Japanese Art

Take a trip to Japan and explore the gorgeous artwork of Katsushika Hokusai and many more Japanese art forms. This is a one time purchase box that has plenty of art activities for eight weeks of curriculum for one child. Enjoy a main lesson on Hokusai and his artwork, and four additional video lessons with art project demonstrations. 

Main Art Projects/Video Lessons/Demonstrations include:

• Printmaking and paper Antiquing: Your child will learn how to carve their own print of Hokusai's Great Wave and print their new artwork onto beautiful deckled watercolor paper that they antiqued themselves. 
  
  
• Kintsugi in a Japanese Kitchen: Your child will learn the steps that artisans use for authentic Japanese Kintsugi and enjoy a project that simulates each step. Create your pottery, and repair it with clay, red "lacquer" and gold paint. Create your kitchen scene with your newly repaired pottery.
  
  
• Bonsai Tree in a Japanese Garden: Your child will learn about Bonsai Trees and make their own 3D tree sitting in a shiny blue pot sitting in a the Japanese Garden they've designed. 
  
  
• Koi Fish with Japanese Lettering: Your child will learn about Japanese Lettering systems and how to write their names in Japanese. Rebecca will walk them through how to paint koi fish on antiqued deckled watercolor paper.

•Ages: Kids' Art Tour Boxes are geared for children ages 6-12, but any child (or adult) can enjoy these lessons and art projects. 

•This box contains one set of supplies. For additional supplies, order more boxes at a $5 discount for each additional set of supplies. Discount will be shown at the final step in the checkout process. Supplies will be shipped in one box at the same $11 shipping.
